Vischmarkt Harderwijk equipped with sustainable LED lighting
At the end of the 1990s, the municipality of Harderwijk equipped the characteristic Vischmarkt with recessed floor luminaires from WIBRE. At that time, luminaires with highpressure sodium vapour lamps were chosen because of their warm yellow colour, which enhances the rustic and atmospheric ambience of the Vischmarkt in the evening hours. The city wall, the trees and even some characteristic houses at the Vischmarkt were illuminated. Many years later, the city desired to equip these luminaires with sustainable LED technology.
As a result of the German worth of this stainless-steel luminaire and the fact that it is still a truly „handmade“ installation, it was possible to replace the interior of the luminaire completely with new LED modules including a power supply unit
Since the atmosphere of the Vischmarkt had to remain absolutely identical, amber LEDs were chosen. With the aid of a comparative design established between the existing traditional lighting and the long-life LED lighting, an outstanding result could be achieved. Almost 90 luminaires are now located in the city centre and for the visitor there is hardly any difference between old and new. The rustic and characteristic atmosphere of the Vischmarkt remain, but it was given a sustainable touch.
